Diego de Rebolledo served as governor of Spanish Florida between 1654 and 1659. A controversial figure, Rebolledo’s governorship was dominated by scandal, political infighting, and accusations of corruption and abuse. This font is inspired by one of the many reports Rebolledo sent to Spain to win royal favor. In it, he denies any wrongdoing, claiming that his accusers invented stories to discredit him and challenge his authority.

In his report, dated May 25, 1658, Rebolledo complains that he is “gravely offended” by the unfair accusations leveled against him, adding that the true achievements of his governorship have never reached His Majesty’s ears. Hmmmm….

Thank you for supporting La Florida! The font installation process depends on a number of factors, including the type of computer you have. YouTube is a great source of information on how to install new fonts to a variety of PCs, for Macs, and other computers.

The shape and size of the letters found in historical documents varied widely. As such, the spacing for these authentically historical fonts also fluctuates from style to style, with many of the letters extending beyond one or two lines. For best results, we recommend double spacing when using these fonts.
